In today’s day and age, pets have become our children (and plants are now our pets) so it’s no surprise that the pet space has experienced explosive growth over the past few years. According to the American Pet Products Association, in 2021 alone, sales across pet food, vet care, grooming and other services surpassed $110 Billion in the United States. What’s even more exciting is that greater than 50% of all U.S. households have at least one dog — that’s more than 69 million homes!
We love our furry best friends and want nothing but the best for them, especially when it comes to health and wellness. Our mission at Barkbus is to end traumatic trips to the grooming salon and deliver a safe, stress-free, and luxurious dog grooming experience.
What an incredible journey we have been on this past year and a half. What started as a two van operation serving a small suburb of Los Angeles, has grown into a 37 van fleet, providing health and wellness grooming services to thousands of pups across Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. The earliest known records of dog grooming as a profession dates back to the Middle ages and sadly, the grooming technology today isn’t much better. The reality is that finding and booking a trustworthy, compassionate groomer is far more difficult than it should be. Our goal has always been to bring seamless technology to the grooming space, which is why we are so excited to officially launch our custom booking software!
Over the past few months, we have quietly tested our online booking engine in the background and successfully booked over thousands of appointments. Our platform prioritizes route optimization, so our clients know exactly when we’ll be at their doorstep. We know that time is valuable and online booking is our way of giving our customers their day back! We are incredibly proud of this team achievement and excited to share this tool with pet parents across Southern California — and soon the entire country!
